Junior Design engineer (f/m/x) - MV switchgear 

Nuventura has developed a new generation of electrical switchgear that is highly innovative and environmentally sustainable, which it now industrializes for scaling globally. While the company continues to develop new products with its R&D department, it now ramps up its production capability to meet growing demand for its already developed products.  


While Nuventura's business model builds on licensing its technology to manufacturers around the globe, the company also supplies core components of the technology to such manufacturers. Additionally, Nuventura also manufactures full products for its home markets. 


As a design engineer your role will be the concept development and industrialization of new product lines based on our technologies and customer requirements. You will work in an international team, communicate with suppliers, manufacturing partners and business developers to define the future path for our products so that they meet technical as well as commercial requirements. To support the development process you will work within small teams of dedicated designers, bringing your mechanical  engineering experience to the table. Your work will have a high impact on our innovative technology development.

What you will be responsible for? 

 

  • Understand technical and commercial requirements for new products and translate them into development specifications. Apply your knowledge of industry standards and manufacturing processes to conceptualize and detail market-ready solutions. 

  • Develop mechanical and electrical components, providing designs, documentation and manufacturing requirements to suppliers. You will be responsible for designs, drawings, bill of materials and quality test protocols 

  • Take responsibility for quality control, testing and lifecycle management of components and assemblies within our facilities, at suppliers or on-site with customers.

  • Take responsibility throughout the whole lifecycle from concept stage, manufacturing, quality control, building prototypes, testing, redesign until maintenance on site. 

  • Provide support and documentation for prototype building hands-on. 

  • Communicate and plan development timelines as a member of small specialized team with flat hierarchies.

  • Support our sales team to realize customer requirements and adapt the existing solutions to new use-cases in an ever-growing industry.

What you need to bring into the company? 

 

  • A university degree (Bachelor/Master) in mechanical engineering, mechatronics, electrical engineering, process engineering, material science or a comparable field.

  • Min. 2 years of experience working as a designer in the electrical equipment sector or a comparable position in a relevant industry. 

  • Good understanding of common metal processing, machining and mechanical manufacturing processes. Knowledge of electrical switching components and design of pressure vessels is helpful.

  • Minimum 2 years of experience using CAD software such as Autodesk Inventor, Solidworks creating 3D-models and technical drawings.

  • Experience with CFD software such as Ansys Mechanical or Fluent fo r structural and thermodynamic simulation is a plus.

  • Experience with prototyping cycles and development of electromechanical hardware systems.

  • Knowledge of industrial standards in the electrical industry or experience with interpreting standards, regulatory documentation and technical patents.

  • You love to solve technical challenges and stay calm in stressful situations 

  • You have no problem working hands-on if required 

  • High sense of responsibility, independence and good communication round up your profile.

  • Written and spoken German basics (at least B1) and advanced English skills. 

  • Willingness to regularly travel in accordance with project needs (roughly 15% on average per year).
